It Starts With a Pink Unicorn Pencil Case

I’m jumping onto the “10 Things I Can’t Live Without” bandwagon

If I woke up and the word turned into a dystopian novel (I mean more than it already is ..), these are the things I’d snatch and grab along with the personality traits I think are essential for my survival. Or at least for nutting out the problem and saving the world from imminent disaster.

It’s not the glitter or the sparkles or the pretty picture of a unicorn. Although I freely admit these things attracted me to purchase the pink unicorn pencil in the first place. Before the pink unicorn pencil case, I used a fluffy coin purse decorated with the Cookie Monster’s face. It’s the innards that matter, not the container.

My pink unicorn pencil case holds all my go-to medical essentials. As someone with Cystic Fibrosis who is ten years post-double-lung transplant, some of my essential medications are time-critical, and frankly, not taking them is incompatible with life. I’m rather fond of continuing to breathe, so giving my pink unicorn pencil case top priority is a no-brainer.

I’m not looking for any type of furry friend. Just one variety. Dogs. My dogs preferably, but I’ll make do with someone else’s if I have to. You are never alone with a dog by your side.

My husband wouldn’t be pleased to know he will not make the top ten list, especially when the dogs do. But the truth is I COULD live without him if I had to. I don't particularly want to, but I could. My fur babies, on the other hand …

Not the one in my elbow … that one isn’t at all humorous.

My sense of humor is the darkest of dark. I can always find something to laugh about. If you can’t laugh about a bad situation, you give it permission to break you. There is no better balm for the soul than a good belly laugh — even if it’s highly inappropriate.
