Here are some words that sound rude but they are really not. But once you start hearing the rude side to these words, a strange thing might happen to you, and many, many words of our language will start to sound rude. And then you will be on your way to becoming a cunning linguist yourself.
Compensation received by virtue of holding an office, and nothing at all to do with butt cream.
Circumspect means wary and cautious about taking chances but it sounds like you’re a foreskin inspector.
It means provide food and other provisions, but be careful if you’re texting. It might look like sexting.
It means someone who renounces their beliefs but it sounds like a gland.
It means conclusion arrived at by reasoning from two premises. But it sounds sticky and awful.
