Goodbyes are always difficult

People come into your life. You take your own time to form the connection. You share happiness with them. Sometimes, hardships too. And eventually, form the bondage — a special kind of relationship…

Why is it so hard to organize people?

We promise this isn’t a blog about telling you the obvious stuff. It is to tell you that the answer to the above question is OurSurplus.

There is a cost for everything. We all know that. Sometimes costs are too high (lots of examples of that e.g. education, medicine, house) some are too low (few examples e.g. water). But you already knew that.

Some are rightfully very high (a luxury yacht) some are not (medicines). Some costs are rightfully too low (oxygen, water) and some are not (drugs, alcohol, sugary food). You knew that too.

What you still do not know is the cost of organising a group of appeal to achieve a singular objective. It’s NOT that the cost is unimaginable or prohibitive i.e. crazy high. It’s that that cost is incredibly UNCLEAR because you never know how much support there would be for that objective.

Therefore the reason it is so hard to bring together a group of people for a common objective is because the cost is so hard to ascertain .

Usually, smart people, good people, like to know the cost of stuff before they jump into it. That’s just not possible when organizing a group of people. The type of people who jump into something not knowing what’s really involved in it are either mad-men/women or visionaries. You can trust your instinct that the latter are few and far between.

So what to do? Just like you we also realise that the cost of organising is what needs to be decreased. But what cost is the right level of cost? Who are we to determine that? We thought about this hard and long and concluded that no level of cost is right. If people are willing to organise they should not do so by bearing a cost. It should be free to organize.

In fact those people willing to give their time to join and create change should actually be paid for it.
