The Curse

A curse is a solemn utterance intended to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something. I can easily identify with this, can you?

There are many examples of a curse. I will share only a few with you to give you an idea of what I am talking about. Sometimes life feels like an uphill battle. It feels like I am living with a curse.

Sin is a curse. The Bible says that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Sin puts a limitation on everything we do in life. Fortunately, God will forgive us if only we ask. Yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is hope.

Some of us have experienced a physical curse. When I was six years old I was hit by a car while crossing the street. It left me in a coma for two weeks, two and a half months in the hospital, and a life time to completely recover. Praise the Lord. Cognitive skills was a challenge and I had to relearn how to walk again, along with lots of other things.

Today we are learning how to cope with inflation. Gas and food prices are high. Makes me wonder what is next? Bare shelves at the grocery store remind us of a food shortage and has many hard working people worried. It feels like a hopeless situation.

I’m a baseball fan, however, the cost to go to a game is so expensive that I doubt if I’ll ever go again. A hot dog cost ten dollars. I can purchase a package of eight dogs at my local grocery store for ninety-nine cents. For a six-pack of soda at the store, I get one soda pop at the ball game. And I hate to think what it cost for a family of four. Greed. Gone are the days to be practical.

If we hope to survive we must learn to cope. Use your common sense and be wise. Make it hard for the guy who is filling his pockets.
