My Day

Someday will be my day. Iwill have my own personal utopia, where all of my dreams, all of my desires, come true for the 24 hour span that is one day. Where disdain and harsh looks take a pause, where hateful words and angered actions take no place. It will be my day.

The day will be full of easygoing tasks. It does not need to be a happy day, per-say, but a non-stressful one at the least. No need to worry about the mortgage or rent due in a week, no need to worry if we will be accepted in the day, be that from difference in style, music tastes, ethnicity, sex, manner of speech, and so on. Each person will love and be loved in their own particular ways.

My day will be unique from the other celebrated days, Presidents’ day, Columbus day, MLK jr day, or Veterans’ Day. In my day, there will not be a certain person or event being celebrated or thought about, it will just be the day on the mind, to have a good day, to help someone else have a good day, to push past the difficulties that impede our happiness every other given day. Senior citizens will be visited within their respective nursing homes, seeing loved ones’ faces. Neighbors will be invited over for dinner. Family will be forgiven, loved, accepted, and called.

kids will play together, such trivial things that taint youth’s perspective on self-worth will be diminished. Popularity will subside, the ‘nerds,’ the ‘jocks,’ and the ‘choir boys’ will intermingle with strands of conversation and found similar interests. Cul-de-sac kickball will return to metropolitan streets as a nightly activity, kids once again spending physical time with one another, void of judgement and prejudice.

My day will put people at ease from today’s everyday routine that takes us away from the joys we are too busy to enjoy.
